February 2022 Update

Final Payment

The final payment is due no later than this coming Monday, February 7th. Please check Charms for your remaining balance.

Trip Performance Rehearsals

Trip performance rehearsals will begin on February 6th — please add these to your calendar! We will have five Sunday afternoon rehearsals from 1:00pm to 4:00pm beginning on February 6th with the final one on March 13th. As noted in the trip commitment form, these rehearsals are mandatory and students may not be permitted to travel if they are not present at each rehearsal. There will be a student and parent travel meeting at 4:30 following the final rehearsal.

Since we set the dates, the district has added a long weekend over what would be our third rehearsal. We have decided to cancel the February 20th rehearsal. To replace the learning that we’ll miss, a recorded performance of the parade tune (memorized) will need to be submitted by February 27th. Specifics on this assignment will be shared during the first few rehearsals.

Drumline Rehearsals

For our parade performance in Orlando, each percussionist will be playing a drum or cymbals. We will not have a flag or mallet section. To prepare for this, we began drumline rehearsals (outside of the Sunday rehearsals beginning February 6th) on Mondays after school and Thursdays from 6-8pm beginning Monday, January 24th. We will not have rehearsals on days without school, and we won't have rehearsal on February 10th due to the Varsity Band and Wind Ensemble concert. All percussionists traveling to Orlando are required to attend at least once per week. If a student is unable to make any of the rehearsals in the same week, they will need to attend two rehearsals in the following week.

Travel Meeting

At the travel meeting on March 13, students and families will receive a packing list, a final itinerary, and ticket information so students can begin choosing fast passes. Please note that an adult must be present for each student and we can only hand these to students who have paid in full, including any band-related fees and fines. Covid Precautions

Unfortunately, the pandemic is not where we had hoped it would be at this point, but we are thankful that case numbers are continuing to drop and that the district is allowing us to continue with the trip. Overpayment

As you plan your final payments, please be aware that we cannot return more than $100 of payment beyond the cost of the trip due to overpayment. This becomes a liability as it can look like the school is being used for a pass-through. Please remember that fundraising profits cannot be returned for any reason. Please plan ahead!

Itinerary

The itinerary that we have available on our website is final. Families, if you are purchasing your own tickets to line up with the days that we're in the parks, you are safe to do that now. Our travel company has told us that the days are set.
