Week of April 4
WSMA Festival Performance Date Changes
On Monday, we were notified of a time conflict for our judged WSMA performance and Great Wolf Lodge trip for Wildcat and Concert Bands. In the interest of success for all of our students in all four bands, we have been told by West and Central administration that we must flip our dates in order to have all students present. Having all students present is extremely important; we all depend on each other, much like an athletic team.
With the new dates, Varsity Band and Wind Ensemble will travel on May 12, and Wildcat and Concert Bands will travel on May 13. We will take coach buses to Shattuck Auditorium at Carroll University in Waukesha to perform and conclude the day with a visit to the Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, Illinois. A page dedicated to these trips (with itineraries) can be found here. We appreciate your flexibility!
New permission slips were passed out in Concert Band, Varsity Band, and Wind Ensemble on Tuesday. Wildcat Band will receive theirs on Wednesday. Unfortunately, we cannot honor the first set of permission slips because the dates are now incorrect. The new permission slips are tan for Varsity Band and Wind Ensemble, and pink for Wildcat and Concert Bands. They are now due on Thursday, April 14.
While at the Great Wolf Lodge, all students will have access to an awesome arcade! Additionally, students will be able to choose either the waterpark or the dry attractions, including unlimited use of mini-golf, bowling, ropes course, and a rock-climbing wall. For students choosing the waterpark and arcade, the cost of the trip will be $75 (coach bus travel and waterpark access). For students choosing the dry attractions, the cost of the trip will be $60 (coach bus travel and dry attraction access). For students only interested in the arcade, the cost of the trip will be $35 (coach bus travel). While at the Great Wolf Lodge, there are two restaurants offering burgers, chicken tenders, and pizza at student cost. The facility is cashless currently. If students don’t have access to a card or mobile pay, we can purchase meal cards when we arrive.
All students will attend and fundraising profits will help with the cost. Students with financial difficulties should contact Mr. Singer or Mr. Wilson for assistance.
For Students in Multiple Bands
We have many students who participate in multiple bands during the school day. Those students are encouraged to perform with each of the bands they rehearse with while at the festival. As a thank you to our students in multiple bands across the 2 days, the second day will be free (equal or lesser value).
WSMA Festival Performance Athletic/Activity Bus
There are multiple athletic events on both days of our WSMA performances. To help our students be successful in music and other activities, we are providing a free bus that will transport students who need to return to school for their athletic event or activity instead of traveling to Great Wolf Lodge. The bus will leave Carroll University at approximately 1:15 and arrive at West at approximately 2:30. An additional permission slip in the same color as the packet is required to take this bus.
