School is scheduled to be closed through at least April 5th, 2020. Please check out the district’s Coronavirus Awareness and Information page for updates.

Instruments and Supplies

Many of the eLearning assignments will require the use of our students’ instruments while at home. If you or your student were not able to bring home their supplies, the building will be open from 9-11am and 1-3pm today and tomorrow, March 16 and 17. Students will need to have the following items at home:

  • instrument

  • Blueprint for Success book

  • concert music

  • tuner and contact microphone

  • white breathing tube

  • chromebook

Folding music stands are available to borrow from the school.

PERCUSSIONISTS, if you would like to have an instrument at home, we are offering practice pads, mallet instruments, and drums (concert and marching) to our students on a first-come, first-served basis. The only stipulation is that they are brought back by 8am on the first day that school is back in session.

If you do not have your breathing tube at home and would prefer not to come into school, they can be purchased at any home improvement store. They are 1/2” diameter PVC couplings.

Assignments

All assignments will be assigned through Canvas. Students, please check your canvas account on all days school would be in session.

Just for Fun

In Canvas, there is a page under the Extended Break 2020 module titled Just for Fun that has Shorties packets, the drumline book, coloring pages, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, musical codes, Sudoku puzzles, and word searches if you would like a low-pressure activity.

Support for Students and Families

This is uncharted territory for everyone. Please know that we are all available to support our students and families. Please reach out via email, text, or phone call if there is anything we can do to support you.

New York City Trip Payment Information

The April payment due date has been changed to April 13. This may be updated based on the date schools are reopened. Payments can always be made online here or in-person when school resumes.

WSMA Festival Performances

As of today, we still plan on performing at the festivals on April 23 or 24 at Carroll University in Milwaukee.

There are a few scenarios that would prevent this from happening:

  1. School remains closed past April 6th. If school is not back in session by April 6, we will not have enough time to put together a worthy performance and will cancel our participation.

  2. Field Trips are banned.

  3. Carroll University’s campus remains closed past April 23.

In the event that we are unable to perform in Milwaukee, Mr. Wilson and Mr. Singer will do their best to create a similar experience in Oshkosh by bringing in adjudicators during the school day.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds!
