Orlando Trip Update - March 11th

Travel Meeting

At the manditory travel meeting on Sunday, March 15th, (3:30 PM in the West O-Room) students and families will receive a packing list, a final itinerary, and ticket information so students can begin planning their theme park visits and booking Lightning Lane or Express Pass (optional, for extra cost). Please note that an adult must be present for each student and we can only hand these to students who have turned in all of their completed permission/medical paperwork including the Infinite Campus Permission Slip.

FINAL BAND REHEARSAL - March 15

The final rehearsal for the Orlando Band is on Sunday, March 15th from 1:00-3:30 (meeting to follow). Students should be working on their marching music daily before the rehearsal. This is our final opportunity to put together our performance. The plan is to spend a lot of time outside marching.

BUS SIGN UP

This week students will sign up for their bus and seat on paper in the music department. There are 3 coach buses, students and chaperones will be evenly distributed across the buses. Mrs. Meyer will be on Bus 1, Mr. Singer on Bus 2, and Mr. Flynn on Bus 3.

Sign up for bus seats will be by grade level. Seniors (20) on Thursday (zero hour to w-hour), Juniors (13) on Thursday (w-hour to 7th) , Sophomores (37) on Friday (zero hour to w-hour), Freshman (22) on Friday (w-hour to 7th).

TEXTING GROUP

All Orlando travelers need to be a part of the texting group. This is how we will communicate with everyone during the trip with reminders, updates, and other important information. If you have not already joined the texting group, please join

Departure - Wednesday, March 19

We finally leave for Orlando on Thursday, March 19th! Travelers will report to OWHS by 5:00 AM. Additional details will be presented at the meeting on March 15th

Itinerary Summary

  • Thursday, March 19th - Travel Day. Overnight on the road.

  • Friday, March 20th - Disney’s Hollywood Studios, check into hotel after the park in the evening.

  • Saturday, March 21st - Band and Choir Clinics (7:00 AM) Remainder of the day in EPCOT

  • Sunday March 22nd - Choir Clinic (7:00 AM) and Band Performance (11:40am). Remainder of the day in Disney’s Magic Kingdom

  • Monday, March 23rd - Cocoa Beach: Ron Jon Surf Shop, Beach BBQ, Beach Time, Disney Springs

  • Tuesday March 24th - Check out of Hotel, Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure, Depart for Oshkosh

  • Wednesday, March 25th - Travel Day, arrive in Oshkosh late (around 11 pm)

Packing INFORMATIon

Please consult the packing list (to be distributed at the meeting March 15th) as you prepare for the trip! Here are a few important details:

  • Travelers will not have access to suitcases until Friday night (about 40 hours after we leave Oshkosh). Hotel check in is Friday night after our first theme park day.

  • Hygiene Supplies

    • Have any supplies you need to use before sleeping on the bus in your backpack on the bus. This should include a toothbrush and toothpaste and may include glasses, contact supplies, facewash, etc.

    • Have any supplies you need to be ready for the day in your backpack on the bus. This must include deodorant and sunscreen! Travelers will not have access to a shower before we begin the day.

  • Clothing

    • Have comfy clothes for the bus in your backpack on the bus. This should include something that you’ll be comfortable sleeping in.

    • Have the clothes you plan on wearing on Friday at Hollywood Studios in your backpack on the bus.
